Well, well, well, here we are again discussing interior design. However, I will reveal the secrets of selecting the best floor for you this time. If you’re wondering, “How would she know?” Well, every woman looking to renovate or move into a new home knows! It’s almost as if we’re born knowing which floor we want. Typically the Interesting Info about Wood flooring company in Chicago.
Okay, so it might not be as simple as that. When I researched the different types of flooring that one could have in her modest home, I became overwhelmed and almost perplexed as to what the differences were in some of them. So here’s a quick guide to flooring.
Wooden flooring- Oh, the good old days of wooden flooring. You really can’t go wrong with wood, can you? Ha! I’m sorry to inform you that you can. Unfortunately, choosing the right wooden flooring is not as simple as it appears. There are numerous flooring options (types within types within types), so your decision must be based on color, functionality, and, in most cases, budget!
Laminate flooring- If your budget is a little tighter, but you still want that wood look, laminate flooring is a great option. Some types are so similar that it’s difficult to tell. However, exercise caution when deciding where to place your laminate. If you think new laminate flooring in the kitchen (or bathroom) would look great, ensure you get sealed laminate flooring. Why? You need one that is water-resistant. The foundation of laminate is pressed sheets of paper, so experiment with dipping a small piece of paper into water and see what happens!
Engineered wood flooring is not to be confused with laminate or vinyl flooring. You wouldn’t believe it, but you’ve most likely walked over this type of floor a million times. It is the most commonly used wood floor in the world. I don’t want to get too technical, but it has two layers. The visible layer is the beautiful shiny layer, which sits on one or more plank-like layers. It is far more durable than laminate but still less expensive than solid wood.
Solid Wood Flooring- It’s exactly what it sounds like wood! Oak, ash, walnut, and bamboo (yes, you read that correctly!) are the most common types of natural wood flooring. So, if you have the funds, why not? Be aware that it is not cheap! Have you ever attempted to purchase walnut wood furniture? Now multiply that by square feet.
Tiled flooring- Who needs hardwood flooring? If you want to go ultra-modern, consider using tiles. Don’t think there’s a more accessible option here. There are numerous types, including ceramic tiles, stone tiles, and tile-effect laminate. It can be just as perplexing. You must know how you intend to use the tiled room.
This is because some tiles are not intended for heavy use, such as pushing furniture around. Also, because some tiles are soft, they will leave unsightly marks. However, if you are considering installing underfloor heating, tiles are ideal! Some people believe they lack character and can make a room appear cold. On the other hand, a lovely and crisp tiled floor with some cozy rugs can be just as welcoming as wood or carpet.
To make the best choice with tiles (or any other flooring), it is critical to seek expert advice. Because of the differences in materials, a tile you like might not be suitable for your essential purpose. I’ve visited dozens (perhaps exaggerating) of flooring companies, and they can provide some beneficial information.
Do not be afraid to ask, even if you do not intend to purchase the flooring from them – they will not charge you. Remember that tiles are not the cheapest option; it depends on your choice. However, if you want them to last, you may have to pay more!
Vinyl flooring- Vinyl flooring is great for people on a tight budget because it is available in almost any flooring type I have already described, is durable, and you can put it anywhere in your home. I would only suggest that it be installed by a professional. Why? I still have a picture of my father installing the vinyl floor in our bathroom when I was a kid. I would never say he cut corners (at least not in his face), but it resulted in bubbles everywhere and looked relatively cheap. Also, hire someone who knows how to lay them because they can be tricky!
Carpeted floors- I enjoy the sensation of walking on the carpet. My friend’s bedroom has the most beautiful rug, and your feet sink into it. However, as with the other flooring remedies, you must select a different wig for each situation. Although her lovely fluffy rug is terrific, my cat would destroy it in minutes. So, for carpets, I would recommend contacting a specialized flooring company.
You can tell them where you want the carpet installed and how it will be used. You will also be able to sit down with someone and calculate the cost of installing it and discuss alternatives if the price is too high.
They will also be able to advise you on the type of underlay you will require – this is similar to a carpet for the carpet. It ensures that your rug lasts longer and retains its bounce. If you have pets and children, you may choose a rug that is easy to clean and can withstand marks from little feet!
So I could provide you with some insight into the flooring world. I’ve either helped you make a decision or completely confused you. In any case, Happy Shopping!
