Tip # one: Knowledge is Key
Arm yourself with a few industry terminologies, and understand what the differences are in the various types of pictures. Do your research about digital photography ahead of time. Know the difference between a candid and a presented shot. Know what photojournalism is actually. Know what you like, and what you don’t need to like, and do not be afraid in order to communicate that to your potential photographers. Make this statement: “We want a photographer who knows how you can control the depth associated with field”. If he discusses you with a quizzical appearance that says “I have no clue what you are talking about”, it may be time to consider ending your own meeting early.
Tip # 2: Ask The Right Queries
I cannot begin to tell you the number of times I have been asked queries that must have been taken from out-of-date sources.
Here are some of the correct questions to ask:
How long are you currently shooting weddings? I would not need a photographer for my wedding ceremony that has been shooting weddings for under 5 years. Reasons for this are many, but the bottom line is you want somebody who truly knows what they are doing, and comes with an “eye” as well as technical information to make things happen.
Perhaps you have worked at our location before? If the photographer is usually local, and your wedding site is local, chances are he’s got worked at your venue before you start. Ask to see those photographs. If he has not previously worked there before, ask in the event that he is willing to go there beforehand to scout the location.
Each of our wedding photography commitments is usually X hours… do you have plans that will accommodate that? Are generally your pricing plans flexible? What kind of equipment is there? Professional photographers should have top-quality SLR cameras. In Nikon, those cameras include: typically the D3, D2X, D2XS, along with D2H. In Canon, individual cameras include EOS1D, 1DS, 5D, and 5DS.

Not saying that there aren’t some sophisticated backyards around, but an outdoor wedding will always photograph totally different from what would be the norm for a wedding at a resort together with sweeping views, grand staircases, etc.
Time of day
If your service takes place 30 minutes before the setting of the sun, your images after the setting sun will all have dark-colored backgrounds, no matter how good the particular camera and lens will be.
Amount of Time Available
Most marriages allow the couple about an hour roughly after the ceremony to capture family pictures and their personal pictures.
