Selecting a Baseball or Football Pitching Machine and a Hitting Cage

6

Before we begin, let me just add 1 thought on how I believe ballplayers are made.

FIRST… you must understand the proper mechanics!

SECOND… do it over and over and over again!

The gamer that has the privilege to be able to hit just by strolling out his back doorway is at an unbelievable advantage as compared with the player who can’t. He could be as fortunate as a gamer, with this being the absolute number one device a player can have to be the best ballplayer he can become.

I once requested a coach if this individual ever had a player with a yard pitching machine setup who else didn’t turn into a good player. He thought for a moment before he said, “No, I don’t think I actually have. ”

If you can strike, a coach will always look for a position for you!

So You Want To Purchase a Pitching Machine?
For most people purchasing a pitching machine is a 1-time purchase, so you sure make the right decision and not have to endure the wrong machine. If you enable me to help, I may have the ability to assist you in whittling your choice down to the right choice. Remember that if you simply read the descriptions beneath, your gut feeling will most probably lead you to the right choice. My answer is this because non-e associated with what we sell is rubbish. So if you are caught among two price levels, and the two are affordable, know that, though, In my opinion, quality is built into everything we sell, more money does buy more machines. Weight loss overpay for quality!

The primary considerations are… TYPE OF DEVICES, PRICE, SPACE, PLAYER AGE GROUP

Type of Machines:

“Real Ball” Throwing Machines:

The Real Soccer ball category is those machines that often throw actual balls or maybe machine pitch dimple projectiles (you’ve seen them throughout yellow or white with the commercial batting cages). In addition, both types of baseballs ponder 5 oz.

These products come in two major classes plus a new category which we’ll discuss shortly. Typically the categories are:

-Wheel Products

-Arm Style Machines

-Compressed Air Machines

Generally, most require a batting cage (there are a few exceptions), and most are available with auto-feeders and universal remote controls for one-player functioning.

Wheel Style Pitching Products – (One & A pair of Wheel Models)

These are typically the most popular types seen in yards, machine-pitch leagues, high universities, colleges, and pro soccer balls. They consist of a silicone wheel(s), a motor to propel the wheel(s), consumer electronics with speed and path adjustment knobs, and a metal frame attached to a tripod. All run on 110v present though many fields without having power will use a power generator. Most can be purchased for football only, softball only, or stuck in a job combination package for multiple sport use.

Single Steering wheel Machines:

As the name signifies, these entry-level machines usually throw a straight pitch at approximately 25-70+ MPH.
Price ranges from just over $900. and up.

Then there are a few solitary wheel curveball machines with the added feature of the apparent; it can also throw a curveball. I prefer the curveball devices for their versatility in tossing the breaking ball through either “hand,” but spending budget needs to be added within your choice.

The price lumps up just beyond $1200.

Distinct Advantages are the low cost for an actual ball unit and the weight of merely 60 lbs for easy transport from car to ballpark etc.

Distinct Cons are that they do not toss the high speeds or various pitches that two tire machines do.

Two Tire Machines:

These are, admittedly, each of our biggest sellers. These products will throw and reproduce almost every pitch from about any angle, from the left or maybe right-handed pitchers at gears from approximately 25 for you to well into the 90 and also MPH range. They hold price tags of over $1500. plus options that are unnecessary but do add to the purpose and enjoyment.

Distinct Advantages are generally their ability to throw all the different pitches and the bonus of using them intended for ground balls (not delicious with single-wheel machines) and fly balls along with catcher pop-ups. They are relatively portable. Our machines selected in weight from 58 lbs to 110 kilos. Some of our competitors’ elderly technology machines weigh one hundred and fifty lbs.
Distinct Disadvantages are generally that you won’t see the motions of the “pitchers arm” if you will get used to it soon after some practice. Additionally, like all-wheel type products, they aren’t consistent with soaked, waterlogged balls or inflamed balls (For this explanation, we suggest and also deal many of our models with unit pitch dimple balls).

Arm Style Pitching Products

These are the workhorses of countless programs from High school or maybe more through the pros. You’ve observed them at the commercial hitting cages, those giant eco-friendly hulks of steel using their red lights warning from the impending pitch. They’ve been about for over 50 years and are genuinely quite civilized and simple when you get to know them. They can be outfitted and changed for football or softball. They toss a straight, accurate ball at varying speeds of twenty-five to 85 plus MPH though we even provide an entry-level machine that peaks out at 67 MPH and also works well for slow-pitch softball (though the equipment throws in an overhand motion). You should consider covering them throughout the off-season, but installed have to move them; they may be built like Russian Aquariums.

Rack Fed or Hopper Fed:

There are two types, one that is rack-fed and will keep 38 baseballs or twenty-eight softballs. The other is a hopper-fed model which holds six hundred baseballs, obviously fewer softballs, and is the ultimate backyard or even Major-League toy… I mean severe baseball training tool.

Unique Advantages are that the gamer can see the pitcher end up, so he “triggers” their swing, which develops a far more realistic timing mechanism. These types of machines are challenging. You can go many years before you require replacement parts (which are inexpensive and easy to replace). Lubricating a few places is about all of the maintenance there is. No car feed is needed as the stand version holds plenty, and the hopper version holds six hundred baseballs. The softball hopper machine holds 400.

Unique Disadvantages are simply that they put only fastballs and are not mobile though the two rack-fed models we offer come pre-loaded with built-in wheels & some sort of dolly system.

“Lightweight” Throwing Products:

These machines use hockey sized 2 oz. Projectiles are thrown at various gears (25 to 70 MPH depending on which model). Several throw various pitches via various angles as well. Bouge is still advised that each portable cage is appropriately matched for the lighter projectiles. We’ve even got a terrific poly-ball (hollow wiffleball) unit that will get up to the fifty-five to 60 MPH selection and is perfect for starting players (an optional auto feeder package is a must).

Distinctive Advantages are low price plus the ability to use them with our low-priced portable cages, which often occupy only 30, forty-five, or 50 ft, ideal for small backyards.

Auto feeders are available too. Some may optionally operate on auto-type battery packs. We now even offer a standard rechargeable “power station” that will allow you to park wherever no electrical power is available. These people ship UPS, so they are also very portable.

Distinct Disadvantages are that they do not throw real baseballs, and to some, that is not the way they are looking for pitching equipment. They also aren’t built as tough as our “real ball” machines.

Options… as well as other Considerations:

The final piece of the particular puzzle is the extras that will some want and some may.

Auto Feeders are a great place where a player often works out alone. They are simple components that will allow a ball to the pitching machine every single 7 or so seconds. Small feeders will hold something like 20 baseballs or 16 softballs and are priced around three hundred in the actual ball equipment. The lightweight machines maintain between 24 and twenty-eight balls.

The larger natural basketball feeders will hold 70 baseballs (no softball model yet), costing over $500. Cord-free remote controls are also readily available.

Some of our lightweight models have auto feeder selections that range from $69 to help $99.

(You will find those things on the specific pitching appliance pages)

Batting Cage’s instructions Full-sized cages commonly are 60 or 60 to 70 ft in length, 12 legs in height, and 14 legs wide. (yes, we can help other sizes but these deal with 85 % of the market). Count on $1500. to $1900, and please don’t buy worthless trash if you do buy elsewhere!

Our portable cages include $250 to $350 for lightweight applications and $595 for accurate baseball models. Depending on the size and pounds of the required netting. (See the money-saving packages on this pitching machine page. )

So How Do You Ultimately Opt for?

Common sense concerning the degree of room you have, your budget, and the players’ age will commonly whittle it down in your case between an actual baseball appliance or one of the lightweight models. Young players will use the item for more years, though aged players may tend to be more intent on getting to the next level, so growing older is not the determining factor. Particularly young children, however, need to consider one of our poly-ball or light-flight machines for common sense explanations.
